So, I had a super interesting conversation off the back of the Women's Society Membership launch a few days ago. We were talking about learning and wether or not we schedule learning into our day. I love learning and see it as the key to business and personal growth, so to me it's a priority. I was surprised to find out that the majority of people don't see it that way.
“The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you.” – B.B. King
My thought on this are.. If I'm not learning.. how can I grow?
You need to develop new skills and knowledge in order to come up with fresh ideas for your business, stay ahead of your competition, keep up with the industry and most importantly - keep your customers happy. I believe you can do all that simply by scheduling learning into your routine.
I popped a poll in Women's Society Instagram Stories and over 50% of those who voted, don't schedule learning into their routine. Most of them were too busy and for some it just wasn't a priority. I've already talked about why learning is a priority for me, so let's get down to how you can fit it into your busy life!
I schedule in at least 15 minutes of learning each day. As well as that, I like to dedicate one full morning a week to learning.
So, my 15 minutes a day, I like to call passive learning. It's usually when I'm busy doing other things. Like my make up or making breakfast etc.. I will pop on a podcast, audiobook or video. I make sure I do this for a minimum of 15 minutes a day, but sometimes, if what I'm doing that day doesn't require too much concentration, I will have something educational playing in the background most of the day. I always have a notebook on hand to jot anything down that stands out.
Then one full morning a week I schedule in some hardcore, good and proper learning, or active learning as I like to call it. This is when I give my full attention to learning something new. This could be anything from learning a new skill, competitor or industry research, learning about a topic I'm slacking on, whatever tickles my pickle really, but this is heavily based on reflections on my business and personal development. My go to's for this are skillshare, reading an actual book (not audible) or watching a webinar.
For those of you thinking, "Girl, I don't have time for this", I promise you, if you make time to learn then you will get faster at the things that are taking up all your time! For example, I spent a lot of time last month learning about my finances by reading and implementing Profit First. Now I spend less than half the time I used to on money stuff and my finances have never looked better.
Now of course, I'm going to chat to you about the Women's Society Membership. Which is one big and fun learning resource, designed to help you grow your business! It's designed for female entrepreneurs and as we've established you're all super busy, all the content is easy to consume, no fluff, quick and actionable!
I hope this has been helpful and inspired you to go on a learning journey!
