What do you do?
I’m a beauty therapist and own a salon within Celeste Arnold Hair and Makeup. I have over 15 years experience in the industry and have created a luxurious salon where my clients can escape and take some time for themselves to unwind and relax with a wide range of beauty treatments from facials and massage, to nail treatments and waxing. I specialise in semi-permanent makeup and semi-permanent tattoo removal. Our salon is a small piece of heaven with a heated bed and luxury blankets creating a cosy experience throughout. My aim is to provide tailor-made luxurious treatments that will have you leaving the salon feeling fabulous and a brand new you.
Top tip for someone who wants to start a business
Just go for it and follow your dreams I wish that I had done it sooner. Be prepared to put the hours in and work hard. Remember that setting up and building your business takes time but just stick with it and all the hard work will pay off and with be very rewarding long term.
Your must have app for business?
Mine would have to be Instagram I find that out of all the ways I promote my business I get the most traffic and best results by using this app. Don’t get me wrong you really have to work at finding the right content to keep your audience engaged and to make you stand out from the crowd especially as the beauty industry is fast growing and has so much competition.
The best thing about being self-employed?
I would say being self-sufficient, I can work my business how I want and when I want to suit my lifestyle and being a parent to two young children I can work my business around my family life to suit us best.
The hardest thing about being self- employed?
I would have to say that would be having to keep going through all the highs and lows of business and always having to keep finding work.
How do you stay motivated?
It can be very hard at times but all I would say is that stay positive and always believe in what you want to achieve and you will do it. I'm a great believer in self-development and I love listening to podcasts and audiobooks about how you can achieve your dreams and I find them really good for getting you motivated and ideas flowing. I would say to continue with industry training is also key in self-development.
Anything else you'd like to add?
Here are some podcasts I would recommend listening to
